LUFKIN, TX — Law enforcement agencies across Angelina County reported a total of 12 arrests late Friday or early Saturday, according to booking information released by local departments. The list included charges ranging from DWI and criminal trespass to assault, sexual assault, theft and multiple warrant arrests.
The Lufkin Police Department did not issue a daily media report Saturday, but booking details showed three arrests by city officers. The Diboll Police Department reported one arrest, the Angelina County Sheriff’s Office reported six, and the Texas Department of Public Safety reported two more.
Lufkin police book three people on warrants, theft and DWI charges
Lufkin police arrested Gregory Stinnett, 42, of Lufkin, on a warrant for sexual assault. Police also arrested Lavetta Cherrell Harrison, 39, of Lufkin, on a theft of property charge with two prior convictions, along with warrants for three counts of no driver’s license, failure to yield right-of-way, no insurance and public intoxication.
Janette Gonzalez, 27, of Lufkin, was also arrested by Lufkin police. Her charges included driving while intoxicated, possession of drug paraphernalia, and warrants for six counts of no driver’s license, two counts of speeding, two counts of no insurance and failure to control speed.
Diboll arrest tied to deadly conduct and child endangerment warrants
The Diboll Police Department arrested Latisha Lecole Harvey, whose age was not available, of Lufkin, on Saturday. Police said she was wanted on warrants for three counts of deadly conduct, abandoning or endangering a child, elderly or disabled person, and criminal mischief causing damage estimated at $2,500 to $30,000.
That arrest was one of the more serious warrant cases in the local roundup because it included multiple violent-conduct allegations and a property-damage count tied to a significant dollar amount. Diboll police did not report any additional details about the stop or the circumstances of the arrest.
Sheriff’s deputies make six arrests across trespass, assault and weapon cases
The Angelina County Sheriff’s Office reported six arrests late Friday or early Saturday. Logan Cade Luther, 19, of Zavalla, was arrested on a criminal trespassing charge, while Kelli Ann Abel, 61, of Lufkin, was booked for criminal trespassing and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Deputies also arrested Phillip Daniel Moore and Lister Jacovey Smallwood, both of Lufkin, on assault causing bodily injury/family violence charges. Derek Colt Simmons, 43, of Lufkin, was arrested on a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and Lavonda Rosha Lockett, 48, of Lufkin, was booked on warrants for speeding and no driver’s license.
Texas DPS stops add two more DWI arrests to the weekend tally
The Texas Department of Public Safety reported two additional arrests late Friday or early Saturday. Brittney Leanne Swearingen, 41, of Rusk, was arrested for DWI with a blood alcohol content greater than or equal to 0.15, one of the higher-level intoxication allegations in the weekend roundup.
Caden Ray McAdams, 19, was also arrested on a DWI charge. DPS did not provide a hometown for McAdams in the booking summary, and no further details were released about either arrest.
Angelina County Jail count stands at 437 inmates Saturday evening
The Angelina County Jail had 437 inmates as of 7 p.m. Saturday, according to the county’s jail count. That figure offers a snapshot of the local jail population at the end of a day when multiple agencies logged fresh bookings.
