On each day of Hanukkah, an additional candle
is lit to commemorate the 8 days of oil burned
by a special torch, a menorah, when the Jew-
ish people triumphed in a war over 2,000 years
ago. On the first day, one candle is lit and burns
itself out. On the second day, two candles are lit
and burn themselves out. This continues until
the menorah holds eight candles on the last day
of the holiday. This year, Hanukkah starts on
December 25. For the following 8 days, here
are some activities to enrich your celebrations:

On the first day: give one gift to each of your
family members.
On the second day: tell yourself two positive
affirmations.
On the third day: tell three people you love
them.
On the fourth day: eat four of your favorite
snacks.
On the fifth day: listen to five of your favorite
songs.
On the sixth day: reach out to six people you
haven’t talked to in a while.
On the seventh day: collect seven new dinner
recipes.
On the eighth day: remember eight things
you are grateful for.
