As the winter season approaches and tem-
peratures drop, activities in Willow Glen and
San Jose begin to ramp up. Warm clothes and
holidays are approaching quickly! Traditions
and vacations are defrosting. We wanted to
know how our Rams celebrate the changing
of the seasons.
With the lack of snow in San Jose, locals
have to find other ways to enjoy the weath-
er. Senior Zach Wyss here at Willow Glen
High School enjoys working at Sharks Ice in
Downtown San Jose, he says there are “lots
of winter events and things to do”, such as
nice restaurants near his workplace and CCS
football games. Ash Hoang (‘25) is a figure
skater who says that her season ramps up
in the winter time, explaining that her team
does “a lot of shows throughout christmas
and then end of the year.” For her, winter is a
time to participate in athletics and spend time time with her family.
Lola Herning (‘25) owns a baking business
where she sells homemade treats to people
within the community. Her sales tend to go up
in the winter months because “everyone wants
treats and gifts for their families.’’ Herning
also enjoys running and takes part in the Santa
Run with her family every year.
For many students at Willow Glen clothing,
often changes with the weather. Joshua Ka-
minski (‘26) says, “I wear more cozy clothes,
I lowkey be putting a fit on.” The winter is
a time for clothing expression and layering.
Wyss likes to wear hoodies and says that “they
are cozy and it’s fun.” Warm clothing allows
for comfort when enjoying outdoor activities
like Christmas In The Park and ice skating.
Embracing the season is important, as it allows us to dress in warmer clothes and spend time with family, as well as take part in winter athletics and enjoy festive treats.
