Willow Glen High School is proud to have an endless list of great teachers who work tirelessly to ensure a positive high school experience for all students. In the last edition of the Ram Pages, we highlighted two outstanding teachers, and this time around, we’re excited to highlight two more: Txemi Ríos Tapioles and David Meister.
First, we would like to shout out Maestro Ríos! He teaches Spanish 5/6 and AP Spanish Language and Culture, bringing exceptional skill and passion to his teaching. In his AP classes, he dedicates himself to catching
up the students who have only taken Spanish at the elective level, and helping them get to the same level as students who are native speakers or who are in the TWBI program, so that all students can get perfect marks on the AP test. Maestro Ríos became a teacher after moving to the U.S. from Spain, because he felt that he could make a big difference in student’s lives. He expressed that “to see how at the end it’s one school and how we, as staff, can ensure that there is unity in the
school. That’s what motivates me most.” Maestro Ríos is vital to our school community and we are endlessly grateful for all that he does for us students. ¡Gracias Maestro!
Next, we have Mr. Meister! He has been teaching Ethnic Studies and U.S. History here at Willow Glen for the last seven years. He is inspired to teach history because it teaches students to think and argue, which he considers essential lifelong skills. He stresses the importance of finding a career that you enjoy and doing it for your own happiness rather than money. Mr. Meister has a classroom tradition of letting students sign their name on skateboards painted by Mr. Wind so students can see a “tangible reward for doing well” in his class. He collects the skateboards in his classroom and hopes to continue this tradition for years to come. In his spare time, Mr. Meister enjoys reading, playing board games, and playing guitar. As an avid music fan, some of his favorite albums are L.A. Woman by The Doors, Sgt. Pepper by the Beatles, and London Calling by The Clash. He would like to shout out his wonderful students, and we thank him in return for all his hard work. On behalf of all Willow Glen students, our staff at the Ram Pages wants to shout out both of these wonderful teachers for doing what they do best. Keep up the great work!
