Get ready to snap your fingers! Willow Glen High School’s theatre department is putting on The Addams Family for its annual spring musical.
The musical is one of many spinoffs that stars the Addams family, a family with interest in all things gruesome. It follows Gomez played by Nate Cooper (‘25), Morticia played by Amelia Pease (‘25), Wednesday played by Autumn Sanders (‘27), and Pugsley played by Ivy Lynden (‘25) as they have dinner with Wednesday’s new boyfriend Lucas Beineke and his all-American family. Over the course of the production, the Addams and Beinekes develop a newfound appreciation for their relationships and individuality. As actor Nate Cooper says, the musical revolves around “bringing those worlds together:” two families who have different definitions of tradition.
For many in Willow Glen High School’s theatre company, family isn’t limited to the show. Cooper asserts that at Willow Glen, “theater is more than community; it’s a family (…) we’re more of a community than ever before.” Daria Cisper (‘25) agrees, citing the people as the most exciting part of performing. Cisper’s favorite part of performing is “[watching] it all come together at the end” after putting in lots of time and effort to make it happen.
For some, the Addams Family holds extra significance for them. As seniors, this will be the last show they do at Willow Glen High School, and — for those who do not plan to continue theatre in college — their last performance ever. Senior Maya Colon, who has been involved in theatre since her freshman year, describes the last show as “bittersweet.” Theatre sparked a period of self-growth that eventually led to Colon’s role as the Addams Family’s dance captain. Vocal director Alina Wood (‘25) shares a similar feeling, noting that she wants to “make the most out of it (…) I need to step back and just experience it.”
The Addams Family opens on Thursday, March 20, 2025 at 7:00 PM at the Willow Glen High School Theater, and they will have shows at 2:00 and 7:00 PM on Friday, March 21 and Saturday, March 22. Come support your Rams at the Addams family!
