This 2024 football season here at Willow Glen High School was action packed. From the successful team, the lively student section, to the vibrant cheerleaders, and everyone in between, the Rams have been busy this fall.
This has been one of the best season Willow Glen has had in a while. With having an undefeated season for the first time in 58 years, a league title, and given the opportunity to compete in CCS. The Rams thrived this fall, including beating rival Pioneer High School 21-0, as well as beating Piedmont Hills for the first time in 20 years. This close knit team has created a strong bond, since “most of us are best friends with each other,” mentions captain Spencer Bartlinski (‘25). They make sure to main- tain this tight relationship by having weekly team dinners and supporting each other on and off the field. Another captain, Ryder Frost (‘25), told us that the “team chemistry is really good,” because this is an experienced team with many seniors, so that bond has been built throughout the years.
Off the field, the Rams flourished in the student section, which is a dedicated part of the bleachers for students to follow organized cheers and chants, as well as making heartfelt memories. Our Ram Pride was shown by dressing up to coordinate with game themes, such as Black Out and Neon. Sadie Gallup (‘25), one of the initiators of the football student section, expressed how grateful she is to be able to see “everyone in the school come together and be as one.” Another leader of the student section, Gasolo “Solo” Tuiafono (‘25), said that “sentimental” would be how he would describe this 2024 season, since he felt it was another way for the senior class to connect.
Our varsity cheerleaders had an exciting season by keeping the energy up on the sidelines. The team has had many improvements, including new tactics and cheers. Eva Primrose (‘26) says, “people are a lot more interested and supportive this season because we have learned how to get the crowd and students more involved.” For the first time, Willow Glen High School has had Willow Glen Middle School students cheering during the JV games. These Rams are following the footsteps of the varsity team through participating in the homecoming parade and learning similar cheers. Our beloved cheerleaders are always bringing new performances that include new stunts and dances every home game to keep us en-
gaged.
Everyone who participated in this remarkable season truly made it unforgettable to many. The year has had unmatched energy on and off the field, leaving fans excited for what next season has to offer.
